Hyper-realistic paintings
Realism seems reach
its perfection since The Renaissance and give way for other school. But artists
who love the realism don’t think so. They never give-up seeking opportunities
to express their love of life and nature more vividly, more minutely. All of
them hope they could overtop the forerunners.
Tu Do Gallery is
proudly introduced the two typical Vietnamese Contemporary Hyper-realistic
artists:
1.- Nguyen Thanh Hoa
(Nguyen Phan):
Nguyen Thanh Hoa
(or Nguyen Phan) was born in 1965 at Phan Thiet City, Graduated fron the Ho Chi
Minh City Fine Arts University in 1991. His early art-works were signed “Nguyen
Phan”. Since 1998, he has signed “Nguyen
Thanh Hoa”, his real name, on his paintings. Therefore, his paintings may bear
signature either “Nguyen Phan”, “Nguyen Thanh Hoa”, or “Nguyen Phan - Nguyen
Thanh Hoa”.

Nguyen Phan follows
the classical-realistic technique for most of his oil paintings since 1995. Only
an intense love for this school could keeps this author to sit before the easel
8 hours a day, 6 days a week for almost 20 years.
We should take a
look at the beautiful hand indifferently hold the palm leaf fan. The light
sheds from her cheek down her breast, then follows the folds of her sleeve to
her hand which holding the fan, the fan, and reflects to the medicinal pot, the
main subject of the painting. Every palm leaves of the fan are depicted vividly
to the smallest details with all of artist’s kindness and tenderness. For whom
the pot of medicinal? What does the nice girl is thinking?

2.- Nguyen Quoc Dung
Nguyen Quoc Dung
was born in 1959 in Hanoi. He graduated from the Vietnam Industrial Fine Arts
University in 1984. He has served the Vietnam Postal Stamp for 3 years
(1989-1992). He is now a well-known painter and photographer.

Nguyen Quoc Dung
holds both camera and brush. He is a reliable photographer of many models.
Images of beauties soon become inexhaustible inspiration of his creations.
Nguyen Quoc Dung’s paintings surpassed his photographs a lot. They describe
minutely poetic, romantic emotions that a photo couldn’t be reached.
Let us observe the
painting entitled “Nostalgia 2”. The girl’s body and the instrument seem tilting
with the breeze which shaking fig wort at the background. Brightness of her
graceful face and the string of pearls standout at the ochre color of her
hair-tower, traditional tunic, flowers and leaves…that recall of old memories.
